LCD Soundsystem for One Night Only: ‘Shut Up and Play the Hits’

A 40-ish year old hipster walks into a bar….he just played the last show with LCD Soundsystem, his brainchild band, and it’s way past his bed time. Sounds like just another punch line, but it’s much more than that. James Murphy is probably the only ‘older’ guy on earth who could pull off skinny jeans and not look like a complete tool–and we love him for it. DDR is so psyched to have scored tickets to the upcoming (and truly ‘for one night only’) documentary, ‘Shut Up and Play the Hits,’ which hits theaters nationwide on July 18th. The film is an unbelievable insider look at the band’s epic final show last April at Madison Square Garden. And from the looks of the trailer, the filmmaker was able to get a close-up look at the show-and the next day (insert ad for hangover mess here)-from the POV of Mr. Murphy himself. DDR will be the to report back with all of the suspenseful details. The film made the rounds at various film festivals, and like the band, it was a big hit. Stay tuned!
